It’s been a wet start to Monday on the West Coast with flooding South of Punakaiki as at 11:30am Monday

Hokitika Airport had just over 80mm of rain in a twelve hour period , with 26mm falling between 2am and 3am.

With the rain now stopped the water should recede fairly quickly.

Please take extra care if you’re out on the roads this morning where ther has been heavy rain. There could be floodwaters/slips around the next corner.
