We have done an estimate of the travel time for the Waiouru detour through National Park. At an average speed of 80kph (Allowing for more traffic and all the trucks) we estimate the time to be more likely 1Hr 20mins. There is no sense making risky manoeuvres because you’re impatient, just wait for a good passing area. The less closures because of crashes, the better for all.
